We take a look inside the Zhiyun Smooth Q Gimbal to see what parts and battery are inside the worlds best selling stabilizer. The electronics and the control board are surprisingly small for such visually complicated device.
One thing that is odd about this tear-down video is the battery of the Zhiyun Smooth Q. Zhiyun states the battery is a “built-in 26650 Li-ion battery”. But, if you look at the cell in the handle it appears the be two 18650 batteries mounted together. Not a single 26650 or two in series as a 26650 is much larger than these. That size just would not fit into the handle. I have never seen this configuration. The 26650 designation is the battery’s relative size. Measured is should be close to 26.5mm × 65.4mm.
I have no real idea why this fellow is taking it apart. Possible malfunction or just plain broken. I just found the inside of the Smooth G gimbal interesting.
Find the Smooth Q phone stabilizer and it’s accessories here for a good price.
I have been looking to buy a replacement battery myself but I can’t find one. I wonder if I could build my own with 2 18650 cells and rewire the thing. If you find one please add a link to the page. Thanks, John.
