Momentum Productions were the first to get their hands on the new Zhiyun Smooth 4 Smartphone Gimbal. He did a testing review on the pre-production model that gives us a good look at the functions and features of Zhiyun-Techs latest gimbal.
Again, this is the Beta version of the Zhiyun Smooth 4 gimbal but the final production model will be almost identical to this stabilizer.
He plans on doing a full detailed review of the gimbal in the next week or so and I will post that video when uploaded.
Object tracking will be a major feature in the Smooth 4 gimbal, this can recognize human faces with much higher accuracy. You can frame the item you want to track on the screen, and the stabilizer keep it in frame. This is all done through their dedicated Zhiyun Smooth 4 app.
Here are some of the new functions to expect with the Zhiyun Smooth 4 Gimbal:
A PhoneGo mode for instant scene transitions.
Focus-Pull and Zoom capabilities.
Intuitive one click mode switch.
Motor force boost to 250g – 500gram payload (reports Vary).
A zoom control for fast in and out movements.
The USA is now set to sell at a $139 retail but in other parts of the world it will be priced between $140-$170.
Zhiyun has a big following in the single-grip stabilizer market, where they released the Crane 2 (the update of the popular Zhiyun Crane and Crane v2) and the Crane Plus at the start of 2018.
You can find the Smooth 4 here as soon as it’s released.

I can’t wait for the Smooth 4 to come out. I canceled my DJI Osmo Mobile 2 pre-order and plan on getting this instead. I hope it will be as great as it looks. The Smooth Q was a great gimbal for me and this look to be a big improvement over that. I still will use my Crane-M with my Panasonic GX85 for my work video but I still want a good gimbal for my Note smartphone.
